Nowadays, people or usually our younger generation in Malaysia are trying to incorporate new ways to live a healthier lifestyle. Following that, what is usually linked with living healthier is one of the most basic human necessities, food. Besides working out and exercising for how you look on the outside, it matters more what you put inside your body.
This is most likely because to live a healthier life, a person has to better themselves from the inside out. The most common mindset when wanting to live a healthier life is that organic food is always better. However, people are coming up with substitutions for meat or additives that are considered healthier than the original product. Although substitutes are usually healthier for some products, that is not the case.
Commonly found in canned foods, additives are a way to either enhance or preserve food. In most cases, additives are viewed as unhealthy due to it being an unnatural addition to food. Products with MSG or preservatives do have their pros and cons. People tend to only think of the cons, however. Additives are not necessarily bad, of course, they are unnatural but in most cases, they’re unharmful. It only becomes toxic when it is over consumed. Because overconsumption of additives can lead to various illnesses such as diabetes or obesity. To live a healthier lifestyle, a person can still consume products with additives but in consideration. For safe consumption of additives, check out chemical supplier in Malaysia.
Artificial products or substitutes, however, are a different case. These include products like soy, sugar substitutes like glucose syrup, or even meat substitutes. Most of these substitutes are quite healthy, and of course, soy is a healthy option as well, however artificial products or ingredients might not be all that healthy.
Take glucose syrup, for example, it can be used as a substitute for sugar in making caramel or other foods however the only difference is that it does not crystalize like sugar, and still, too much of it is as bad as too much sugar, and most probably, sugar is easier to find than glucose syrup in Malaysia’s grocery stores. Back to the issue, with artificial products or ingredients, you have to always make sure that they don’t contain any harmful chemicals. This is because some may contain certain chemicals that are harmful when over consumed. Bottom line is that no matter what, overconsumption of anything is never a good thing. Like when people say, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
Artificial meats on the other hand are like a shot in the dark unless you find a trusted brand. This is due to the fact that artificial meats can either be vegan or just fake meat that is sold cheaper. Those cheaper ones are usually made to cater to people who want a cheaper option when buying meat, commonly filled with flavoring and coloring to make it seem real. Vegan meat however is typically engineered to have either more protein than real meat or just as much protein. Which means that it can be healthier than real meat in most cases. This benefits vegans as they can still enjoy a product similar to meat and tastes like meat but is plant-based. This does not improve the environment as much as you think but it certainly does help. Thus, plant-based meats are a good substitute and it might be introduced to Malaysia even more soon.
Bottom line is that any artificial product in the market has its own pros and cons. It is up to an individual to decide what they want to put in their body thus the responsibility of knowing what those artificial products contain also falls on them. Furthermore, to live a healthier lifestyle, one has to know the importance of knowing what the products they buy contain. People also have to remember that no matter how good a product can be, it is always better to take the safe road and remind themselves not to over-consume. Like mentioned before, overconsumption of anything is never okay, even if you think it’s healthy. All of this will eventually help people lead a healthier lifestyle while keeping their insides healthy, with a good balance of exercise of course. At the end of the day, a healthier body makes a happier person.
