I was once scolded by my uncle for forgetting to buy him the daily newspaper and he told me that he has missed the news for a week because every time he wanted to buy a newspaper, it would have been sold out. He then told me that he had no idea what is even going on with the world and how important it is that humans stay updated on global issues. I, instead, reminded him that as much as we have to stay updated about the news, we also have to stay updated on the technologies around us. I then showed him sites for digital news, and I told him that nowadays, newspapers are no longer in the spotlight whenever it comes to reading about the news. Things have gone online and if you cannot get a newspaper, you can turn to online instead to get your news. It provides recent news with no delay and is consistently updated every day. You don’t have to wait for a day to get your news printed and distributed. From then on, he has shifted to getting his news on his smartphone. While flipping the pages, they would get interested or distracted with other news and the possibility of them not even getting to the initial news is high. They would end up spending more time reading other news, rather than getting the exact news they come for. Digital news solves this by allowing the user to have direct access to the news with just one click.
It is undeniable that some still enjoy the pleasure one can get from reading a physical newspaper and the older generations tend to enjoy this more than the youngsters. However, with the ever-changing world we live in, with a better and improved method of receiving news, I believe it is time we take a shift towards a more digital-focused world. Even courses in Universities are concentrating more towards technologies and its digitalization so we as society, we should support that by using the provided platforms. Not only that, we should also support other courses that are just as important like restaurant management by enrolling ourselves in courses like bidang kulinari or kursus pengurusan restoran and through this, we can offer even better services for the betterment of our community.
